What it
usually means.
Most wood-fired and masonry ovens have no electronics at all and show no codes; their problems appear as heat, smoke or cracks, each with its own page. Codes come from ovens with controls that watch the bake. Conveyor ovens report a burner that did not light, a blower that is not proving airflow, a belt that stopped or a temperature out of line. Rapid-cook ovens report their heating system, blowers, door switches and sensors. Digital deck ovens report ignition, temperature and control issues. Each maker, TurboChef, Middleby Marshall, Blodgett, Wood Stone and Bakers Pride among them, publishes its own list, and a number on one maker's display tells nothing about another's. Some of what the display shows is simply a mode: cool-down with the blowers still running, energy save, or a menu lock. In a pizzeria, a surprising number of codes follow the day: a door left open, a filter clogged, a power dip during a storm. On this site the codes are sorted into eight families by what they report: modes, ignition and flame, temperature and sensors, elements and heating, the conveyor belt and drive, blowers and airflow, controls and display, and power.
The 7 causes, cheapest first
Answer these first
What exactly does the display show: letters, numbers or a light pattern?
Is it a conveyor, a deck, a rapid-cook or an outdoor gas oven?
Did the code appear at startup, during a bake or at shutdown?
Was there a power dip, a door left open or a filter overdue before it?
Which maker built it, and what model and serial are on its rating plate?
Check these
before you book.
Pizza oven error code: 5 checks, and none of them costs anything.
Photograph the display, or film a blinking light for a few seconds, before switching anything off.
Match the code to your maker on this site, or to the manual for that exact model.
Check first whether it is a mode: cool-down, energy save and menu lock each end their own way.
Also worth checking
- Switch the oven off at its switch, let it finish cool-down, then restart and note how soon the code returns.
- Keep panels closed and the gas fittings alone; when a code keeps returning, book with the photo.
How soon does it need a visit?
A code by itself seldom calls for a same-day visit. The four emergencies, a gas smell, flames where they should not be, a burning smell and smoke filling the room, are handled on their own pages first.

7 things pizza oven error code on a deck, conveyor or rapid-cook display turns out to be, from a mode, not a failure to controls, display and power.
The cost guide-
01 no repair
A mode, not a failure
Cool-down, energy save and menu lock each show a signal of their own. The manual says how to leave each of them.
-
02 low
Ignition and flame
A burner that did not light in time or lost its flame sets an ignition code.
-
03 low
Temperature and sensors
A sensor reading out of line, or a cavity that cannot reach its set point, sets a temperature code.
-
04 low to moderate
Conveyor belt and drive
A belt that stopped, or a speed outside its limits, sets a drive code on conveyor ovens.
-
05 low to moderate
Blowers and airflow
A blower that is not proving airflow, or a cooling fan that stopped, sets an airflow code.
-
06 moderate
Elements and heating
An element that has opened, or a heating system not drawing the current it should, sets a heating code.
-
07 moderate
Controls, display and power
A board that fails its self-test, a display that loses segments or a supply dip during a bake each set a code of their own.
