What Er1
actually means.

The Volta regulates its burner from one temperature probe, a K-type thermocouple in the cooking chamber. Er1 appears when that probe or its lead is disconnected or broken, which leaves the controller with no chamber temperature to regulate against.

What to do when Er1 shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Fontana Forni's own guidance for Er1 on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press and hold the power button for three seconds to clear the message and switch the oven off.

02

Once the oven is cold, look inside the chamber at the probe tip and check that it has not been bent, knocked loose or pushed out of place by a peel.

03

Make sure the 12-volt adapter is pushed fully into the oven and into a GFCI outlet, then switch on and set a temperature again.

04

If Er1 returns, book a visit; the probe lead runs behind the control panel and the probe is replaced as a part.

Still there?

It usually turns into pizza oven thermostat and control repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

Er1 has nothing to do with the two meat probes, which show noP when they are not plugged in. It is also not the overheat message: an oven that climbs past its limit shows Er3.

Questions
about Er1.

Can I clear Er1 myself?
Press and hold the power button for three seconds to clear the message and switch the oven off. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can I keep cooking on my Fontana Volta while Er1 is showing?
No. With the chamber probe gone, the controller has no temperature to work from, and Fontana's fix is to check the probe wire or replace the probe. Clear the message and try once; if Er1 comes back, leave the oven off until the probe has been checked.
Is the Er1 probe on a Fontana Volta the same as the meat probes?
No. Er1 is about the fixed K-type probe inside the cooking chamber. The two plug-in meat probes are separate, and an empty meat-probe port only shows noP.
Why does Er1 on my Volta come back only after the oven heats up?
A probe wire that is cracked or loose can read fine when cold and open up as the metal expands. That pattern still points to the probe or its lead, and it is worth mentioning when you book so the wire is checked hot.

Still showing Er1?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
