What Er2
actually means.

When you confirm a temperature, the Volta sparks its burner and watches for flame with a sensor electrode; the flame icon flashes during those ten seconds. If no flame is proven, the controller stops and shows Er2. Fontana lists four causes: a disconnected or broken spark electrode, a disconnected or broken flame sensor electrode, a broken valve power wire, or a propane cylinder that is closed.

What to do when Er2 shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Fontana Forni's own guidance for Er2 on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Hold the power button for three seconds to clear Er2.

02

Check that the propane cylinder valve is open and that the tank still has gas.

03

Leave the oven door open and wait a few minutes before one more try, so any gas from the first attempt clears the chamber.

04

If Er2 appears again with a full, open tank, stop and book a visit for the electrodes and valve wiring instead of trying again and again.

What not to do

Er2 is shown before the burner has ever lit. A burner that lights and then goes out during cooking gives Er6, and a broken spark generator gives its own Er8.

Questions
about Er2.

Can I clear Er2 myself?
Hold the power button for three seconds to clear Er2. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
My Fontana Volta shows Er2 on the first cook of the season. Is it broken?
Not necessarily. A closed cylinder valve or an empty tank is one of the four causes Fontana lists, and it is the most common after storage. Open the tank, check its level, clear the code and try once more with the door open.
How long should the flame icon flash on a Volta before Er2 shows?
About ten seconds. The icon flashes while the oven sparks and turns steady once the flame is proven; if it is still flashing when the ten seconds run out, the controller stops and shows Er2.
Can a propane regulator cause Er2 on a Fontana Volta?
It can. Fontana's gas troubleshooting says the regulator's excess-flow safety device can trip and starve the burner. Close the tank, disconnect the regulator, wait two minutes, reconnect and open the tank slowly before the next try.

Still showing Er2?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
