What the conveyor oven belt and motor repair
involves.

A conveyor oven's belt is what turns bake time into belt speed, and when it slows, slips or stops, every pizza on it comes out wrong. The belt is a stainless wire mesh running over sprockets at each end of the tunnel, turned by a drive motor and gearbox through a chain or a shaft, with a speed control board and sometimes a sensor that reads the belt's actual rate. Belts stretch, links break, the belt rides off a sprocket or catches on a finger panel; sprockets wear; chains stretch and lose their tension; motors and gearboxes wear their brushes, bearings or gears; and speed boards fail from heat and dust. The technician runs the oven cold and watches the belt all the way round, measures its speed against the setting, and listens to the motor and the gearbox. A stretched belt is shortened or replaced, a broken link repaired, sprockets and chains changed, and the drive motor, gearbox or speed control replaced where it has failed. Belt tension and tracking are then set so it runs centered, and the speed is checked at several settings with a stopwatch before the oven is brought back up to heat.

How the visit goes

Conveyor oven belt and motor repair,
step by step.

Check belt speed at several settings, then bring the oven to heat and run pizzas through.

01

Run the belt cold and watch it all the way round for slipping, jumping, snagging and broken links.

02

Time the belt against its setting, and listen to the drive motor and gearbox under load.

03

Shorten, repair or replace the belt, and change worn sprockets, chains and bearings.

04

Replace a failed drive motor, gearbox or speed control, and set belt tension and tracking.

05

Check belt speed at several settings, then bring the oven to heat and run pizzas through.

All service areas

Tampa BayFL · 31 areas

Conveyor ovens in Tampa Bay's delivery pizzerias run without a break through game nights, and a belt that stalls or jerks is traced to a worn drive chain, a stretched belt or a tired motor before the weekend rush returns.

OrlandoFL · 30 areas

Orlando's tourist corridors are lined with pizza counters built around conveyor ovens, and a belt that stops mid-order is urgent there, so the technician checks the drive motor, the speed control and the belt tension together.

Miami / South FloridaFL · 47 areas

South Florida humidity rusts a conveyor oven's drive chain and sprockets while it sits idle overnight, and a belt that catches or skips at startup is often cured by cleaning and lubrication before any motor is replaced.

New York MetroNY · 75 areas

New York's chain and delivery shops fit conveyor ovens into narrow kitchens, where cheese and flour fall onto the belt ends, and a jammed conveyor there is cleared, realigned and tested for a failing motor once the oven has cooled.

HoustonTX · 36 areas

Houston delivery kitchens push conveyor ovens hard through long summers, and heat building at the drive end shortens motor life, so a belt that slows as the shift goes on often points to the motor or its cooling fan.

ChicagoIL · 50 areas

Chicagoland tavern-style shops send many thin, square-cut pies through conveyor ovens every night, and a belt that runs unevenly darkens one edge, so belt tension, the drive shaft and the speed setting are checked on one visit.

Los AngelesCA · 95 areas

Los Angeles delivery counters run conveyor ovens for long shifts, and a motor that hums without turning the belt, or a speed control that drifts, is the usual reason a line of pizzas comes out uneven there.

San DiegoCA · 31 areas

San Diego's beach-area pizza counters run conveyor ovens through long summer seasons, and salt air works on the drive chain and belt links, so a stalled belt is cleaned, tensioned and inspected before any new part is fitted.

San Francisco Bay AreaCA · 74 areas

Bay Area campus cafeterias and delivery shops run conveyor ovens on tight schedules, and a belt that pauses for a few seconds and then restarts is often a speed control or a motor sensor, which the technician tests under load.

Questions about
the conveyor oven belt and motor repair.

Why does my conveyor oven belt move in jerks?
A stretched belt or chain, a worn sprocket or a drive motor losing power can all make the belt surge and pause. It shows up as pizzas that come out uneven, some overdone and some pale.
Can a stretched conveyor belt be shortened?
Often, yes. Removing links brings it back to the right tension if the belt is otherwise sound. A belt that is worn thin, has many broken strands or has stretched unevenly is better replaced.
How long does a conveyor belt repair take?
Adjusting or shortening a belt usually takes an hour or two once the oven is cool. A new belt, motor or speed board may need ordering; we check the parts before the trip when you send the model.
