One short form books a pizza oven visit, and no card details are asked for. Nothing is owed until a technician has fired your oven and laid out the repair for you.

What the form asks,
and why.

Everything you write is read before the truck leaves, so the thermocouple, valve, element or belt part your oven needs stands a better chance of already being on board. Sending the form commits you to nothing, and no figure is given before the cause is found.

Have the model number to hand if you can find it: where the rating plate is covers the usual places.

Step oneThe oven and its trouble

Outdoor gas oven, wood-fired or hybrid dome, deck oven, or conveyor or rapid-cook oven; the make; propane, natural gas, wood or electric; and whether it will not light, loses its pilot, stays cool, bakes unevenly, has cracked, smokes into the room, stops its belt or shows a code. That tells us who comes and which igniters, valves, elements and belt parts to pack.

Step twoA day and a half-day window

Morning or afternoon; for a pizzeria, a window before the dough is out, and for a home oven, a day when it has not been fired since the night before.

Step threeReaching the oven

Where the oven stands (patio, island, rooftop, pizzeria line), what feeds it (a tank, a gas line, wood, a circuit) and where the gas shutoff or the breaker is, how the chimney runs, and a phone for the day. A gate code, a delivery entrance, the hours the dining room is closed: each one saves time.

After you book,
the visit.

The three steps above are the booking. These four are what happens once a technician is in your kitchen.

What repairs cost
01

Gas, power and draft come first

Before anything is lit, the technician checks the gas supply and its shutoff or the circuit and its breaker, looks up the flue, and inspects the floor and the dome. Then the oven is fired while the technician watches the ignition, the flame and how the heat spreads across the stone. Panels, burners and decks come off only in the technician's hands, with the gas closed, the power off and the oven cool enough to work on.

02

The cause, and its cost

Standing at the oven, the technician names the part that failed, cracked or wore through and gives its price at the same time, and nothing is ordered until you say yes. If a new oven makes more sense than the repair, you are told that just as plainly.

03

Parts that ride along

Thermocouples, pilot assemblies, igniters, common thermostats, fuses, probes and door gaskets often come on the truck. A gas valve for one make, a deck stone cut to size, an element set, a conveyor belt or drive motor, a blower or a refractory repair kit for one dome is ordered; put the serial in the booking and that order may be placed before we arrive.

04

Fired up before we go

With the part fitted and the covers back, the oven is fired while you watch: the burner catching on the first try and holding, the floor or decks reaching their heat and keeping it, the belt running at its set time, the smoke leaving by the chimney, and a test pie that comes out even.

Before the
technician arrives.

Three things that make the first visit the only one.

What a code means

After gas, fire or smoke, leave it off

After a gas smell, flame outside the mouth or behind the panel, a chimney fire, a burning smell or smoke that filled the room, do not fire the oven again to see what happens. Keep the gas closed or the breaker off and wait for us.

Write down the code and the pattern

A code on the display, a pilot that drops only in wind, a floor that cools after the third pie, a belt that slows at the dinner peak, a crack that appeared after rain: note it or photograph it. Put the oven's make and model beside the note and the technician can plan the visit around it.

Let it go cold and make room

Let the fire die out and the oven cool overnight, rake out cold ash only, and clear peels, wood stacks and pans from in front of it. Think back to what came just before: a first fire after a wet week, a new gas line, a move, a record Saturday, a storm.

Questions
about booking.

Does requesting a pizza oven visit cost anything?
No. The request is free and no card is taken in advance. No valve, element or refractory patch goes in until you have heard what failed and what it costs, and have agreed.
Where is the rating plate on a pizza oven?
On an outdoor gas oven it is usually under the front lip or on the back panel; on a wood-fired dome, beside the door or on the stand. Deck ovens carry it inside the lower access panel or on a side, and conveyor ovens near the control box. If reading it means reaching behind a hot oven, leave it; the technician copies it on arrival.
Can I book a pizza oven repair by phone?
Yes. Our number and office hours are at the top of every page. The form and the phone reach the same people, and on a Friday afternoon before a busy weekend the form is often answered first.
What if my pizza oven is not worth fixing?
You hear that at the oven, with the reasons, before any part is ordered. A dome that has split through to its insulation on an inexpensive kit oven and a worn thermocouple on a heavy deck oven point to opposite answers, and the visit is how we learn which one you have.
