What PROB
actually means.

Type 1 controllers, the ones with separate green and red push buttons, show PROB where later controllers show open. The controller has no signal from the floor thermocouple, so it cannot run the underfloor burner to a set point.

What to do when PROB shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wood Stone's own guidance for PROB on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Switch the oven off and let the floor cool.

02

Note whether PROB appeared right after work was done under the oven, since a disturbed plug is the likeliest cause.

03

Book a visit so the connections on the controller and in the junction box under the oven can be checked before a thermocouple is ordered.

It usually turns into pizza oven thermostat and control repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

PROB is not a request to reprogram the controller and has nothing to do with the dead band settings. It is also not FAIL, which points to the temperature module itself.

Questions
about PROB.

Can I clear PROB myself?
Switch the oven off and let the floor cool. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is PROB on a Wood Stone oven the same as open?
It reports the same thing, an open thermocouple circuit, on an older controller. Type 1 controllers print PROB; the later touchpad controllers print open.
Does PROB mean the Wood Stone thermocouple must be replaced?
Not always. Wood Stone tells technicians to check the connections at the controller and in the junction box under the oven before replacing the sensor.
Will the burners still run with PROB on the display?
The dome flame is set by hand and may still run, but the controller cannot regulate the underfloor burner, so the floor temperature is left unchecked.

Back to your everyday

Still showing PROB?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
