What FAIL
actually means.

On the older push-button controllers the temperature control module can report its own failure as FAIL. Wood Stone's first step is a power cycle; a FAIL that survives it means the module needs replacing.

What to do when FAIL shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wood Stone's own guidance for FAIL on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the oven off and then back on once.

02

If the display reads normally again, note the date and time in case the message returns.

03

If FAIL is still there after the restart, leave the oven off and book a visit for the temperature control module.

Still there?

It usually turns into pizza oven thermostat and control repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

FAIL is not a sensor reading like PROB or EEE, and it does not describe the gas burners. A dark display is a different problem again, usually power, a fuse or the relay.

Where FAIL usually leads

Pizza oven thermostat and control repair.

Thermostat calibrated or replaced, temperature probe, timer, controller board or display · moderate.

In Wood Stone's own words

Questions
about FAIL.

Can I clear FAIL myself?
Turn the oven off and then back on once. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What should I do when my Wood Stone controller says FAIL?
Turn the oven off and on once. If FAIL remains, the temperature control module has to be replaced by a technician.
Is FAIL on a Wood Stone oven a gas problem?
No. It comes from the electronic temperature module, not from the burners or the gas valves.
Which Wood Stone ovens can show FAIL?
The older Type 1 controllers with separate start and stop buttons. Newer touchpad and touchscreen controllers use other messages.

Still showing FAIL?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
