What open
actually means.

Wood Stone reads the hearth temperature from a thermocouple buried under the floor. When the wire from that sensor is unplugged, loose or broken, the controller has no reading and shows open instead of a number.

What to do when open shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wood Stone's own guidance for open on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the oven off at the controller and let it cool before anything else.

02

On a Bistro or Phoenix oven, look at the thermocouple plug on the control box: if it has worked out of its socket, push it back in fully with the power off.

03

If the plug is seated and open stays, book a visit; the checks at the junction box under the oven and the continuity test are technician work.

What not to do

open does not report a failed burner or a gas problem; the flames may be fine. It is also different from LO, which is only a cold floor reading.

Questions
about open.

Can I clear open myself?
Turn the oven off at the controller and let it cool before anything else. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What does open mean on a Wood Stone oven display?
The controller cannot read its hearth thermocouple. The sensor, its plug or its wire is disconnected or broken somewhere between the floor and the controller.
Can I keep baking on a Wood Stone oven that shows open?
Without a floor reading the controller cannot hold a hearth set point, so the floor heat is no longer regulated. Stop, let it cool and have the sensor circuit checked.
Why did open appear after the oven was moved or cleaned underneath?
A thermocouple plug that was knocked or pulled is the most common reason. Wood Stone lists a loose connection before a failed sensor.

Still showing open?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
