What Er6
actually means.

While the oven is running, the flame sensor electrode keeps confirming there is flame. Er6 appears when that confirmation stops. Fontana lists four reasons: the propane cylinder ran out, the flame sensor electrode or its wire broke, the valve failed or lost its power cable, or strong wind or drafts blew the flame out.

What to do when Er6 shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Fontana Forni's own guidance for Er6 on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Hold the power button for three seconds to clear the code and switch off.

02

Check the tank level and swap in a full cylinder if it is low.

03

Turn or shelter the oven so wind is not blowing into the mouth, then relight with the door open.

04

If Er6 comes back with a full tank on a still day, book a visit for the flame sensor electrode and the valve.

Still there?

It usually turns into pizza oven burner and igniter repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

Er6 means the burner had been lit, unlike Er2, where it never lit. A flame that flickers and runs weak without any code is more often the propane regulator's excess-flow device.

Where Er6 usually leads

Pizza oven burner and igniter repair.

Pizza oven burner cleared or replaced, spark electrode, hot-surface igniter or spark module · low to moderate.

Questions
about Er6.

Can I clear Er6 myself?
Hold the power button for three seconds to clear the code and switch off. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
My Fontana Volta shows Er6 halfway through a cook. Is the tank empty?
That is the first thing to check, since running out of propane is the first cause Fontana lists. Weigh or gauge the tank before looking further.
Can wind really put out the burner on a Fontana Volta?
Yes. Fontana warns that strong wind or drafts can blow out the flame and asks for barriers that stop wind blowing straight into the oven mouth.
What is the flame sensor behind Er6 on a Volta?
It is an electrode next to the burner that tells the controller a flame is present. If it is broken or its wire comes loose, the controller loses the flame signal and shuts the gas off, even if the flame was fine.

Back to your everyday

Still showing Er6?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
