What Er8
actually means.

The Volta lights its burner with an electric spark igniter. Er8 appears when the igniter's power wires are disconnected or the device itself is not working properly, and Fontana's fix is to check those wires or replace the igniter.

What to do when Er8 shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Fontana Forni's own guidance for Er8 on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Hold the power button for three seconds to switch off and close the propane cylinder.

02

Do not try to light the burner with a match or lighter; the Volta manual gives no hand-lighting method.

03

Book a visit to have the igniter wiring checked and the igniter replaced if needed.

What not to do

Er8 is the spark device itself; when the spark works but no flame is proven, the Volta shows Er2. It is also unrelated to the AA battery push-button igniters on Fontana's hybrid and Maestro ovens, which have no display.

Questions
about Er8.

Can I clear Er8 myself?
Hold the power button for three seconds to switch off and close the propane cylinder. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Does my Fontana Volta igniter use a battery like the hybrid ovens?
No. The Volta's igniter is powered through the oven's 12-volt supply and controlled by the board, which is why a problem with it shows as Er8. The battery igniter belongs to the hybrid and Maestro ovens.
Can I light my Fontana Volta by hand while Er8 is showing?
No. The Volta has no hand-lighting procedure in its manual, and its controller manages the gas. Leave it off until the igniter is repaired.
What is the difference between Er2 and Er8 on a Volta?
Er8 means the igniter itself or its wiring is not working. Er2 means the ignition attempt ran but no flame was proven, which can be the electrodes, the valve wire or a closed tank.

Still showing Er8?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
