What SOAKING
actually means.

Once the air in the chamber reaches the set point, the HhC does not start cooking straight away. It adds five minutes so the cavity walls, jetplates and belt catch up with the air, and shows SOAKING with the time left. When the count ends the oven moves to cooking on its own.

What to do when SOAKING shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from TurboChef's own guidance for SOAKING on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Wait for the countdown to finish before loading the first pizzas.

02

Plan the morning start so warm-up and soak are done before the first order.

03

If the oven drops back from cooking to warming during service, note how often; a fall of 25°F or more below set point sends it back, and repeated drops are worth a visit.

Cleared?

The code has left the display, the decks or the tunnel come up to the set heat and hold it through a full service, the belt keeps its speed and the blowers run steady, all with no part changed. If the same code returns within a week, or on the next busy night, say so when you book.

What not to do

SOAKING is not a stuck warm-up; it ends after five minutes on its own. Baking during the soak is what gives pale first pizzas, not a heater problem.

What you may
notice with it.

The pizza oven problems SOAKING tends to arrive with. Answer these at the pizza oven before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

No part of the oven has failed; the display is reporting a state someone chose or the oven entered on its own. A cool-down keeps the blowers turning after the heat is off until the cavity or the tunnel has dropped to a safe level, an energy save setting lets the decks sag between rushes, and a menu lock stops anyone on the line from changing the bake times. No part is needed: letting the cool-down run out, or the key sequence in the manual, brings the oven back.

Questions
about SOAKING.

Can I clear SOAKING myself?
Wait for the countdown to finish before loading the first pizzas.
Why does my TurboChef say Soaking when it is already hot?
The air is hot, but the metal inside is still catching up. The HhC gives it five more minutes so the first bakes match the rest of the shift.
Can I skip the Soaking step on a TurboChef conveyor?
The manual describes it as automatic, with no skip. Loading during the soak works against you, because the surfaces are not yet at temperature.
My TurboChef went from Cooking back to Warming. Why?
The HhC returns to warming when the temperature falls 25°F or more below the set point, often under a heavy load. If it happens often, book a visit to check the heaters and blowers.

Back to your everyday

Still showing SOAKING?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
