What Energy Saving Mode
actually means.

The PS640 steps down in stages when the belt is empty. Mode 1 slows the main blowers while keeping the temperature. Mode 2 lowers the set point by 100°F and stops the belt. Mode 3 lets the oven cool and shuts off the blowers below 200°F. In each of these, placing anything on the input belt brings the oven back to full operation.

What to do when Energy Saving Mode shows on the pizza oven

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Middleby Marshall's own guidance for Energy Saving Mode on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Place the next product on the input end of the belt to wake the oven.

02

In Mode 2 or 3, give the oven time to climb back to its set point; the belt restarts once both sides are within 5°F.

03

If the oven drops into these modes too early for your service, ask a technician to review the energy settings.

Cleared?

The code has left the display, the decks or the tunnel come up to the set heat and hold it through a full service, the belt keeps its speed and the blowers run steady, all with no part changed. If the same code returns within a week, or on the next busy night, say so when you book.

What not to do

The quiet blowers and stopped belt in these modes are not a blower or belt problem. Mode 4 is different: it is a complete shutdown, and only the ON button restarts it.

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

No part of the oven has failed; the display is reporting a state someone chose or the oven entered on its own. A cool-down keeps the blowers turning after the heat is off until the cavity or the tunnel has dropped to a safe level, an energy save setting lets the decks sag between rushes, and a menu lock stops anyone on the line from changing the bake times. No part is needed: letting the cool-down run out, or the key sequence in the manual, brings the oven back.

Questions
about Energy Saving Mode.

Can I clear Energy Saving Mode myself?
Place the next product on the input end of the belt to wake the oven.
Why did my Middleby Marshall PS640 stop its belt between orders?
In Energy Saving Mode 2 the oven lowers its set point by 100°F and stops the belt. Put product on the input belt and it heats back up.
My PS640 won't wake up when I load the belt. Why?
That is Energy Mode 4, a full shutdown. The manual says the ON button on the main screen has to be pressed to restart it.
Is Energy Saving Mode 1 lowering the temperature?
No. Mode 1 only slows the main blowers; the oven keeps its temperature and belt speed.

Still showing Energy Saving Mode?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code copied as shown, the model and serial from the rating plate, and a note on whether the oven still lights, heats or moves its belt. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your oven the same day.
