Under Memorial's pine canopy, needles pile on a dome and slide down a chimney that has no cap, and a flue half full of needles and a squirrel's nest is the usual reason a fire here pours smoke out of the oven mouth. ## What Memorial does to a pizza oven. Country estates and farmland covered the Memorial area until Houston annexed it piece by piece between the 1950s and the 1980s. A flood control project finished in the 1950s created Barker Reservoir on Memorial's western edge and straightened Buffalo Bayou between State Highway 6 and Beltway 8. Memorial Bend, first built out in 1955, is known for its large collection of mid-century modern houses. Memorial City Mall opened in 1962 and Town & Country Village in 1965, following the homes that were filling the area. [All of Houston](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/locations/houston/) ### Family houses Weekly family pizza nights wear a home oven's floor tiles and burner steadily, and flour and cheese that fall through gaps into the burner box can smolder, so the box is cleaned and the floor joints checked on every visit. ### Backyard pizza nights A pizza oven built onto a masonry base traps heat beneath its floor, and without openings in that base the burner valve and igniter module cook along with the pizza, which is why a failing valve there prompts a look at the base's airflow. ### A second pizza oven A second pizza oven wired or piped from an existing line may share a circuit or a gas supply with the first, and when both run, a slow preheat or a tripped breaker points to that shared supply rather than a problem inside either oven. ## A visit in Memorial. In Memorial as anywhere, these four put whoever stands at the oven's mouth, and the building around the flue, at risk, and they mean the gas or the power stays off until we arrive: a gas smell at the oven or its supply line, flame escaping the mouth or showing behind the panel or up the chimney, a hot electrical or burning smell, and smoke that fills the room instead of leaving by the flue.
