Before and during a bake, a Middleby Marshall gas conveyor needs proof that its blowers are moving air, or it will not keep the burner lit. On the X-Series, a position name followed by SENSOR OPEN means that proving switch is still open. The manual blames either the switch itself or one or more blowers that are not running. Middleby Marshall pizza oven display · also shown as (Position) SENSOR OPEN What to do when SENSOR OPEN shows on the pizza oven ### Kind of code Blowers and airflow The air the oven bakes with is not moving as it should. In a conveyor or rapid-cook oven the impingement blower may be dragging on worn bearings, its fingers packed with grease so the jets fire unevenly, or its cooling fan clogged with flour dust until the controls overheat; a gas oven may also refuse to light when its combustion air switch never proves. Cleaning the intake filters and grilles with the oven off is safe; a blower that slows, squeals or smells hot is a visit. ### Usually leads to Pizza oven blower and fan repair Impingement blowers, cooling fans, bearings, belts and air fingers repaired or replaced, so hot air reaches every lane of the pizza oven evenly. ### Shows up as Pizza Oven Error Code on a Deck, Conveyor or Rapid-Cook Display A pizza oven error code shows as letters or numbers on the display of a conveyor, deck or rapid-cook oven, a flashing light on its panel, or a message about ignition, heat, belt or airflow. ### Make Middleby Marshall A Middleby Marshall conveyor call is about the line: how many pies came out right before the belt slowed, stalled or the crust went pale. ### Source Middleby Marshall X70G, X55G, X55GWB gas oven owner's operating and installation manual (78866 Rev F) X70G, X55G and X55GWB gas conveyors (78866 Rev F); the display puts the blower position in front of the words. PS-series ovens report the same kind of check as MAIN BLOWER ERROR. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Middleby Marshall's own guidance for SENSOR OPEN on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Press Dismiss. 02 Unplug the oven, plug it back in and restart it. 03 If SENSOR OPEN returns, stop using the oven and book a visit; the manual asks for immediate repair. ### Still there? It usually turns into [pizza oven blower and fan repair](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/services/pizza-oven-blower-and-fan-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do SENSOR OPEN is about the blower proving switch, not a temperature probe; probe loss reads PROBE # OPEN. It is not caused by the cooling fan filters, which have their own alerts. ## What you may notice with it. The pizza oven problems SENSOR OPEN tends to arrive with. Press Dismiss. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why won't my Middleby Marshall X55 light with SENSOR OPEN on screen? The burner is only allowed to run once the blowers are proven. With the proving switch open, the control holds the gas off. ### Is it the switch or the blower when SENSOR OPEN appears? The manual says it can be either. A technician checks whether the blower is turning before testing the switch. ### Does the position in the SENSOR OPEN message matter? Yes. It tells the technician which blower's proving switch is open, so note it before you restart. --- **[Read on the site: Middleby Marshall SENSOR OPEN: the oven cannot prove its blowers are running](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/error-codes/middleby-marshall-sensor-open/)** **[Book a visit with PizzaOvenRepair.center](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/schedule/)**
