Cooling fans keep the control compartment of a Middleby Marshall conveyor from overheating, and they breathe through filters that catch flour and grease. On the PS638 the message reads CLEAN FILTERS; on the PS640 gas oven it appears as High Control Compartment Temperature. Middleby Marshall warns that ignoring it will eventually shut the oven down. Middleby Marshall pizza oven display · also shown as High Control Compartment Temperature What to do when CLEAN FILTERS shows on the pizza oven ### Kind of code Blowers and airflow The air the oven bakes with is not moving as it should. In a conveyor or rapid-cook oven the impingement blower may be dragging on worn bearings, its fingers packed with grease so the jets fire unevenly, or its cooling fan clogged with flour dust until the controls overheat; a gas oven may also refuse to light when its combustion air switch never proves. Cleaning the intake filters and grilles with the oven off is safe; a blower that slows, squeals or smells hot is a visit. ### Usually leads to Pizza oven blower and fan repair Impingement blowers, cooling fans, bearings, belts and air fingers repaired or replaced, so hot air reaches every lane of the pizza oven evenly. ### Shows up as Pizza Oven Error Code on a Deck, Conveyor or Rapid-Cook Display A pizza oven error code shows as letters or numbers on the display of a conveyor, deck or rapid-cook oven, a flashing light on its panel, or a message about ignition, heat, belt or airflow. ### Make Middleby Marshall A Middleby Marshall conveyor call is about the line: how many pies came out right before the belt slowed, stalled or the crust went pale. ### Source Middleby Marshall PS638 electric and gas oven owner's operating and installation manual (74617 Rev G) PS638 (74617) prints CLEAN FILTERS; PS640 gas (60251 Rev J) prints High Control Compartment Temperature and asks for the front fan filters. ## Before you book, in this order. Remove and clean the cooling fan filters, at the rear on the PS638 and at the front on the PS640, following the cleaning section of the manual. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Where are the filters that CLEAN FILTERS refers to? They cover the control cooling fans: the PS638 manual says rear filters, the PS640 gas manual says front fan filters. ### What happens if I ignore CLEAN FILTERS on a Middleby Marshall? The control compartment keeps heating up, and the manual warns the oven will eventually shut down on high temperature. ### How often should the cooling filters be cleaned? Follow the maintenance schedule in your oven's manual, and sooner in a floury kitchen. Clean filters also protect the control boards. --- **[Read on the site: Middleby Marshall CLEAN FILTERS: the cooling fan filters are clogged](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/error-codes/middleby-marshall-clean-filters/)** **[Book a visit with PizzaOvenRepair.center](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/schedule/)**
