While it warms, the message bar says the belt is off and the oven is not yet at temperature. Once both sides are within a few degrees, the belt starts on its own. A cool-down keeps the blowers turning after the heat is off until the cavity or the tunnel has dropped to a safe level, an energy save setting lets the decks sag between rushes, and a menu lock stops anyone on the line from changing the bake times.
