The touch screen on a Middleby Marshall conveyor is only the user interface; the I/O board does the switching of blowers, belts and burners. When the link between them is broken, the PS638 shows **00FF. The X-Series reports the same break in words as I/O COMM LOST. Middleby Marshall pizza oven display · also shown as I/O COMM LOST What to do when **00FF shows on the pizza oven ### Kind of code Controls and display The controller itself reported trouble, or stopped answering: a display with missing segments, a keypad that no longer takes a press after steam or cleaner got behind it, a board whose relays stick, or saved bake settings that vanish overnight. A full power cycle at the breaker, done as the manual describes, clears a passing glitch; a code that returns, or any sign of moisture or scorching behind the panel, means a board or a keypad, and that is a visit. ### Usually leads to Pizza oven thermostat and control repair Thermostats calibrated or replaced, probes, timers, boards and displays repaired, so the pizza oven holds the temperature the cooks set and shows the right number. ### Shows up as Pizza Oven Error Code on a Deck, Conveyor or Rapid-Cook Display A pizza oven error code shows as letters or numbers on the display of a conveyor, deck or rapid-cook oven, a flashing light on its panel, or a message about ignition, heat, belt or airflow. ### Make Middleby Marshall A Middleby Marshall conveyor call is about the line: how many pies came out right before the belt slowed, stalled or the crust went pale. ### Source Middleby Marshall PS638 electric and gas oven owner's operating and installation manual (74617 Rev G) PS638 (74617) prints **00FF; X70G, X55G and X55GWB (78866 Rev F) print I/O COMM LOST. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Middleby Marshall's own guidance for **00FF on its pizza ovens. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Note what the oven is doing, such as whether the belt is still moving and whether it is still hot. 02 Turn the oven off with its switch. 03 Book a visit; both manuals send this one straight to service. ### Still there? It usually turns into [pizza oven thermostat and control repair](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/services/pizza-oven-thermostat-and-control-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do **00FF is not a temperature or belt message, even though the oven may stop responding to the screen. A blank screen with no power at all is a supply or breaker check, not this code. ## What you may notice with it. The pizza oven problem **00FF tends to arrive with. Note what the oven is doing, such as whether the belt is still moving and whether it is still hot. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What does **00FF mean on a Middleby Marshall PS638? The touch screen has lost its connection to the I/O board that runs the oven. It is a communication problem inside the controls. ### Is I/O COMM LOST on an X55 the same thing? Yes. The X-Series spells out the same loss of contact between the display and the I/O board. ### Will a power cycle fix **00FF? The manual's remedy is service, not a reset. The cable and the two boards at either end of the link need testing, so book a visit. --- **[Read on the site: Middleby Marshall **00FF: the touch screen has lost contact with the I/O board](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/error-codes/middleby-marshall-00ff/)** **[Book a visit with PizzaOvenRepair.center](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/schedule/)**
