Error codes

# Pizza oven error codes, read properly.

A code narrows the search and is also the thing most often read wrong: the same characters mean different things on different brands, and a fair number of the codes people look up are not failures at all — they are modes the appliance was left in.

## Find your code, make by make.

Type the characters exactly as the display shows them, or pick the make. Each code has a page of its own: what it means on that brand, what to check, and what not to do.

### Only confirmed codes

Every code here is taken from the manufacturer's own documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. If yours is not listed, book with the exact characters and the full model number, and we will tell you whether it is one we take.

## Three things before you look it up.

A code is a lead, not a verdict. These decide whether the answer you find will be any use.

01

### Copy the code as it appears

The code, the message or the blinking light, exactly as shown. Photograph it, because switching the oven off at the breaker can wipe it.

02

### Photograph the rating plate

Inside the lower access panel of a deck oven, near the control box of a conveyor, on the back of a rapid-cook oven. One code can point to a probe on one make and a blower on another.

03

### Gas, fire, smoke or only heat?

If you smell gas, see flame outside the mouth, notice a burning smell or have smoke in the room, shut the gas or the breaker and book today. A code on an oven that still bakes evenly can wait for a regular appointment.

## What each kind of code means.

Codes fall into a handful of families. The family says more about the likely repair than the characters do — and one of them is not a repair at all.

[How to read a code](https://pizzaovenrepair.center/problems/pizza-oven-error-code/)

### Mode, not a failure

18 codes

No part of the oven has failed; the display is reporting a state someone chose or the oven entered on its own. A cool-down keeps the blowers turning after the heat is off until the cavity or the tunnel has dropped to a safe level, an energy save setting lets the decks sag between rushes, and a menu lock stops anyone on the line from changing the bake times. No part is needed: letting the cool-down run out, or the key sequence in the manual, brings the oven back.

### Ignition and flame

12 codes

The oven tried to light its burner and never proved a flame, or proved one and then lost it. The usual reasons are ordinary: a gas shutoff not fully open or a tank running dry, an igniter cracked or crusted with flour dust, a flame sensor or thermocouple that no longer reads the heat, or a draft that pulls the pilot away from it. Checking the shutoff and the tank and running the restart the manual names are fair first steps; if you smell gas, get outside first, and the valve, the sensor and every fitting stay with a technician.

### Temperature and sensors

16 codes

A probe is handing the controller a reading it cannot believe, or none at all: a deck or tunnel sensor coated in baked-on flour and grease, its lead chafed or scorched where it passes the heat, or a connector loosened by years of doors slamming. The oven then runs hot, stalls short of its setting or shuts the heat off to protect itself. Letting the oven cool and restarting it is reasonable; a sensor that still reads wrong sits behind a panel, and that is a visit.

### Elements and heating

1 code

The controller called for heat and the deck or the cavity did not answer in time. On an electric deck oven that is often one element burned open under a stone, a contactor whose points have pitted, or a stone cracked so the heat no longer spreads; on a gas deck or conveyor it is a burner that lights but runs starved. Closing the door fully and giving the oven its full preheat rules out the simple case; an element, a contactor or a burner is a visit, and a burning smell means the breaker off first.

### Conveyor belt and drive

4 codes

The belt stopped, slowed or lost track of its speed. Sometimes a pan, a lid or a clump of burnt cheese has jammed the belt against the frame; more often the drive motor is worn, a coupling or a chain has slipped, or the speed sensor no longer reports what the belt is doing, so the bake time on the display stops matching the pies. Clearing the belt path once the oven is off and cold is a fair first step; a motor that hums without turning or a belt that has stretched out of true is a visit.

### Blowers and airflow

6 codes

The air the oven bakes with is not moving as it should. In a conveyor or rapid-cook oven the impingement blower may be dragging on worn bearings, its fingers packed with grease so the jets fire unevenly, or its cooling fan clogged with flour dust until the controls overheat; a gas oven may also refuse to light when its combustion air switch never proves. Cleaning the intake filters and grilles with the oven off is safe; a blower that slows, squeals or smells hot is a visit.

### Controls and display

3 codes

The controller itself reported trouble, or stopped answering: a display with missing segments, a keypad that no longer takes a press after steam or cleaner got behind it, a board whose relays stick, or saved bake settings that vanish overnight. A full power cycle at the breaker, done as the manual describes, clears a passing glitch; a code that returns, or any sign of moisture or scorching behind the panel, means a board or a keypad, and that is a visit.

### Power

The oven is not getting the supply it was built for: a breaker that tripped under a full load of elements, one leg of a three-phase feed missing so half the heat is gone, a blown control fuse, or voltage that sags when the whole kitchen is running. Resetting a tripped breaker once is fair. A trip that repeats, a burning smell or a scorched cord means the breaker stays off and the panel stays shut until a technician has looked.

## Questions about the codes.

### The code on my pizza oven is not here. What now?

A code earns a page only after we have read it in the maker's own manual. Until then, type the code or the blinking light into the booking and the technician reads it against the manual for your serial.

### Two pizza ovens show the same code. Same problem?

Not always. Each maker writes its own table, and the same characters can mean a failed ignition on one deck oven and an overheated blower motor on a conveyor. Read every code alongside that oven's rating plate.

### Can I clear a pizza oven code myself?

Sometimes. Make sure the gas shutoff is open, the breaker is on, the belt is free of dropped cheese or a stray pan, and the vents are clear, then run the restart the manual describes. A code that comes back within a day points to a part, and after a gas smell, a burning smell or a fire, skip the restart and book.

### The display shows a code but the pizza oven bakes normally. Is something broken?

Perhaps not. Some displays simply report a state: a cool-down that keeps the blowers running after service, an energy save setting that drops the heat between rushes, or a menu lock that stops staff from changing the bake times. Those pages explain how to leave the state with no part at all.
